USB woes with a Hewlett Packard laptop

I purchased a ZWO ASI178MM camera to use as my guide camera. It worked for a little bit one night and then just wouldn’t ever connect again. I just got a ZWO ASI2600MC in the mail. I tried to test them by hooking them through the USB 3.0 hub in my SkyWatcher EQ8-R mount. Neither would connect or even be recognized by the computer. Even the camera for my microscope wouldn’t connect through it, and I knew that worked just fine.

Well, after fiddling with a bunch of settings and messing with the devices in the device manager, I finally found the trick. My HP Pavillion laptop, which is only a few months old, needed a motherboard BIOS update. Once I did this, the devices connect just fine through the hub. Freaking computers!
